Breast Reconstruction NJ - Post Mastectomy

POSTED ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 01, 2022 AT 10:36 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Many women who are fighting breast cancer often undergo a mastectomy or double mastectomy in order to treat existing cancer or prevent it from forming in high-risk cases.

During this procedure, all or part of the patient’s breasts may be removed.

While every woman approaches and experiences a mastectomy in their own way, it can sometimes leave a patient feeling mournful, insecure, or anxious.

At Asaadi Plastic Surgery, breast reconstruction surgery is offered to help restore the sense of femininity and sexuality that some women feel they lose after winning their courageous battle with breast cancer.

What is Breast Reconstruction Surgery?

Breast reconstruction surgery, also known as reconstruction mammoplasty, restores natural-looking breasts for women who have lost breast tissue as a result of a mastectomy, lumpectomy, or other medical procedures.

How is Breast Reconstruction Surgery Performed?

During breast reconstruction surgery, a tissue expander is used to create a pocket in which a saline breast implant can be inserted. After the implant is placed, Dr. Asaadi will use discreet sutures to close the incisions. In some cases, this will create a breast mound, so an implant may not be needed.

After the pocket is created, further symmetry and contours can be achieved through fat grafting. During this procedure, fat is harvested from other areas of the body, such as the back or abdomen, and transferred to the breasts.

What are the Benefits of Breast Reconstruction Surgery?

  • Restored size, shape, and appearance of the breasts
  • Natural-looking results
  • Can be performed immediately following mastectomy or lumpectomy
  • Restores a sense of confidence and femininity

What Can I Expect Before My Breast Reconstruction Surgery?

Before undergoing your breast reconstruction surgery, Dr. Asaadi will create a highly-personalized treatment plan to ensure you are receiving individualized care, as well as your desired results. Dr. Asaadi will provide you with pre-surgery instructions that are to be followed to ensure both the procedure and healing process go smoothly.

What Can I Expect After My Breast Reconstruction Surgery?

The healing process following breast reconstruction will look different for every patient. Depending on the extent of your procedure and your body’s rate of healing, recovery time will vary.

After your breast reconstruction surgery, you may experience some side effects including soreness, bruising, swelling, and inflammation. Stitches are usually removed 1-2 weeks post-surgery. Patients should avoid all strenuous activity until given the go-ahead by Dr. Asaadi.

Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have about breast reconstruction. Contact our New Jersey office at 973.731.7000, or you may request an appointment online today!

Preventative Botox NJ - Prevent Wrinkles with Cosmetic Injectables

POSTED ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 01, 2022 AT 9:00 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Cosmetic injectables not only reverse the signs of aging, but they can also prevent some of the most noticeable signs of aging from showing in the first place.

As a result of taking preventative action against aging, patients will experience fewer wrinkles and an overall smoother complexion as years pass.

It’s a common misconception that cosmetic injectables are highly noticeable, making those who have them appear “worked on” or “plastic.”

When performed properly by an experienced injector, these procedures will yield natural and youthful-looking results.

What are the Benefits of Preventative Injectables?

  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
  • Lessens movements that causes wrinkles
  • Combats genetic aging
  • Provides more subtle anti-aging results
  • Minimally invasive
  • Little-to-no downtime

How Can Botox Prevent Aging?

As fine lines and wrinkles can start to appear from repeated facial movements, starting injectables earlier can help to slow down the use of these muscles. But when do patients know when is the right time to start seeking cosmetic injections? Experts agree that when patients begin to see the first signs of facial folds or wrinkles it is reasonable to start considering injectables to prevent further aging. Our NJ plastic surgeon can meet with you to determine what is best for you and if you are an ideal candidate for preventative cosmetic injectables.

What to Expect Before Preventative Injectables

Before receiving any preventative injectables, Dr. Asaadi will meet with you for a consultation. During this process, he will evaluate any signs of aging you present and create a customized treatment plan to effectively address them and take steps towards preventing more from appearing.

What to Expect After Preventative Injectables

Depending on the type of injectable administered, patients will see results in the days following their procedure. Cosmetic injectables are minimally-invasive and require little-to-no downtime. Therefore, patients are able to return to their daily activities almost immediately following their visit.

What Signs of Aging Can Cosmetic Injectables Prevent?

  • Fine Lines
  • Forehead Wrinkles
  • Marionette Lines
  • Hollowed Cheeks
  • Crow’s Feet
  • Furrowed Brows

When Should I Start Preventative Injectables?

An ideal age to start preventative injectables doesn’t exist, because everyone ages differently depending on various factors such as genetics, skin type, sun exposure, etc. However, once faint lines begin to appear, it may be the right time to start preventative injectables. These faint lines are likely to later develop into deep wrinkles and preventative injectables are helpful in slowing this process. The age of patients seeking preventative injectables ranges from mid-to-late 20s to 30s.

What Options are Available for Preventative Injectables?

At Asaadi Plastic Surgery we offer a wide variety of cosmetic injectables to prevent the signs of aging. Dr. Asaadi will help determine which treatment is best for you based on your desired results and problem areas. Treatment options include Botox®, Juvaderm®, Perlane®, Belotero®, Voluma®, and Volbella®.

Eliminate Unwanted Fat - Liposuction in NJ

POSTED ON MONDAY, AUGUST 01, 2022 AT 10:03 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Many patients struggle with stubborn fat that is resistant to routine diet and exercise. Liposuction is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures because of its ability to precisely target and remove unwanted pockets of fat.

There are a variety of liposuction techniques available and Dr. Asaadi will help you decide what’s right for you based on your desired results.

Lipo is often paired with other body contouring techniques to create beautifully-contoured results.

Tumescent Liposuction

Tumescent liposuction can be used to treat most body parts, including the stomach, hips, buttocks, thighs, calves, back, and more.

During the procedure, a specialized numbing solution is injected into the treatment area(s). A cannula is then inserted through a small incision to break up fat cells and gently suction them from the body.

Tumescent liposuction minimizes bruising and swelling post-procedure.

Super-Wet Liposuction

During super-wet liposuction, a small amount of anesthetic solution is injected into the treatment area(s), resulting in an overall shorter procedure. Following this preparation, a small cannula is inserted to perform the fat removal. Super-wet liposuction offers patients enhanced contours for a slimmer-looking figure.

VASER Liposuction

VASER liposuction utilizes ultrasound technology to break up and remove unwanted fat cells and uses either general or local anesthesia. During this liposuction procedure, a probe is inserted under the skin through a tiny incision to deliver ultrasound energy to the targeted areas.

VASER liposuction also exposes the underlying layers of the skin to heat, promoting collagen production, and tightening the skin for the most sculpted and youthful-looking results.

What to Expect Before Liposuction

If you’re considering undergoing liposuction in NJ, Dr. Asaadi will meet with you to discuss your goals and confirm that you’re an ideal candidate for the procedure.

Following your consultation, you will receive specialized pre-care instructions to prepare for your liposuction.

What to Expect After Liposuction

Following lipo, you may experience mild bruising and swelling. Some patients may require a small drainage tube to aid in the healing process, but this may be removed within the first few weeks.

Healing times will vary by patient. However, most are able to return to work or their daily routines 1-2 weeks following their liposuction procedure. Patients should take this time to rest and avoid any strenuous activities.

Dr. Asaadi and his staff are on hand to answer any questions you may have concerning liposuction. Contact our New Jersey office at 913.731.7000, our New York office at 212.938.0158, or you may request an appointment online today!

Facelift Without Downtime - NJ Non Invasive Facelift Options

POSTED ON FRIDAY, JULY 01, 2022 AT 9:00 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

The signs of facial aging are often the most noticeable, causing many patients to seek facial rejuvenation procedures in NJ. While many patients are great candidates for facelift surgery, non-invasive procedures can offer solutions to facial aging without having to go under the scalpel or take extended downtime.

These procedures provide long-lasting, natural-looking results and are ideal for patients looking to combat the signs of facial aging.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is effective in treating blemishes, damaged skin, and other signs of aging. Using precise laser technology, laser skin resurfacing can be tailored to fit the individual goals of each patient.

There are various laser options available to treat different facial concerns. Dr. Asaadi is able to help patients decide which option is best for achieving their desired results. Laser skin resurfacing can be combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are used to treat imperfections of the skin, often caused by aging, genetics, or excessive sun exposure. Through different levels of exfoliation, chemical peels can correct a wide variety of skin irregularities on the face.

There are three levels of chemical peels; light chemical peels, medium chemical peels, and deep chemical peels. Each peel targets a different layer of the skin and provides different results. Dr. Asaadi will help you decide which level of chemical peel is necessary to achieve your desired rejuvenation results.

Botox®

Botox® is a cosmetic injectable that reduces the signs of facial aging. Botox® is effective in treating wrinkles that form around the mouth, eyes, and forehead due to repeated facial muscle contractions.

Botox® works by temporarily limiting the facial expressions that lead to fine lines and wrinkles. This procedure takes approximately 10-20 minutes to perform and can easily be tailored to fit the desired results of each patient.

Ultherapy®

Ultherapy® is a non-invasive skin-tightening treatment that is used to lift and tone facial tissue that has lost elasticity or begun to sag. Using ultrasound technology, Ultherapy® uses direct sound waves to stimulate the production of elastin and collagen.

Because of its minimally-invasive nature, Ultherapy® patients can return to their regular activities almost immediately after undergoing the procedure. Visible improvements can be noticed following your first treatment, but the results will continue to develop in the months to follow.

Dr. Asaadi and his staff are on hand to answer any questions you may have concerning non-surgical treatments. Contact our New Jersey office at 913.731.7000, our New York office at 212.938.0158, or you may request an appointment online today!

Breast Implant Removal and Replacement - NJ Cosmetic Surgery

POSTED ON MONDAY, JUNE 27, 2022 AT 6:09 PM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Breast augmentation is a common cosmetic procedure performed to enhance breast size and shape. This surgery uses implants to increase breast size, providing patients with a fuller or more feminine-looking chest.

While breast implants remain a common plastic surgery procedure, many patients are choosing to remove their implants for a variety of reasons. Over the years, as our bodies change shape and size, some patients may feel their breast implants no longer suit their figure. In some cases, patients may seek breast explant surgery following capsular contracture or other complications. Silicone breast implants are also commonly removed to switch to saline implants, known to be safer and more natural-looking. Whether you’re seeking breast implant removal for medical or aesthetic concerns, Dr. Asaadi can perform breast implant removal and breast implant replacement based on your goals and desires.

What is Breast Implant Removal?

Breast implant removal is performed to extract breast implants from a previous breast augmentation. The procedure can also remove any residual scar tissue.

What is Breast Implant Replacement?

Breast implant replacement is performed in order to replace existing breast implants with ones that are safer or more suitable for the patient. Dr. Asaadi offers breast implant revision to remove old implants with implants that fit your anatomy. Dr. Asaadi only uses saline breast implants.

Reasons for Breast Implant Removal or Replacement

  •  Unhappiness With Breast Size
  •  Correct Implant Rupture or Leakage
  •  An Infection
  •  Correct Results from a Previous Surgeon
  •  Change in Physique
  •  Accident or Injury to Breast Implant

What to Expect Before Breast Implant Removal or Replacement

Before your breast implant removal or replacement, Dr. Asaadi will perform a thorough examination to assess your current implants and create a plan that will fit your needs. During the procedure, anesthesia will be administered to ensure your comfort and safety throughout the process. The implants will then be removed from a small incision under the breast. New implants will be inserted through this same incision if the patient has chosen to replace them.

What to Expect After Breast Implant Removal or Replacement

The recovery process following a breast implant removal or replacement will vary depending on the patient, considering everyone heals at different rates. Swelling, discomfort, and bruising are common and will gradually subside as the healing process progresses. It is important that patients rest and allow their bodies proper time to mend.

Breast Implant Removal Paired with Breast Lift

Oftentimes, breast lift surgery is recommended following breast implant removal. After larger implants are removed, the breast tissue can be weakened and sagging. A breast lift can remove excess skin and reposition the nipples, creating a youthful-looking, perkier chest. The results of breast implant removal paired with breast lift appear natural and are long-lasting.

Dr. Asaadi and his staff are on hand to answer any questions you may have concerning non-surgical treatments. Contact our New Jersey office at 913.731.7000, our New York office at 212.938.0158, or you may request an appointment online today!
