A forehead lift (also known as a brow lift) can improve sagging brows, horizontal forehead lines or furrows, and #11 lines to restore a younger-looking facial profile. Over time, facial furrows and worry lines may form due to aging, stress, repeated facial expressions, or sun exposure. Together, these factors may contribute to a tired, angry appearance. Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi uses the latest surgical techniques to smooth wrinkles for a firmer look. Brow lift surgery can also be combined with other forms of facial rejuvenation, such as a facelift, blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty, or neck lift, to enhance the entire facial profile.
Forehead lift surgery is designed to smooth the forehead using the latest technology. During traditional brow lift surgery, facial tissues are carefully repositioned to raise the brows. Excess skin can be redraped and removed to minimize the appearance of frown lines. The classic, or open forehead lift utilizes an incision behind the hairline, while the endoscopic forehead lift is performed using a specialized endoscopic camera and minimal incisions. Dr. Asaadi performs a unique brow lift procedure, known as the short scar temporal lift. This procedure can smooth forehead wrinkles and achieve natural-looking results for patients. Dr. Asaadi will discuss this brow lift technique in more detail during your consultation at our office. Learn more about the different forehead lift approaches below.
As opposed to traditional brow lift techniques that focus on the removal of excess skin and fat, Dr. Asaadi’s short scar temporal forehead lift addresses the underlying causes of wrinkles by targeting the corrugator muscles. These muscles are located above the eyes and can be responsible for forehead furrows and #11 lines. During the short scar temporal brow lift, Dr. Asaadi will carefully make incisions in the upper eyelids and remove your corrugator muscles to ease forehead wrinkles. The short scar temporal lift can achieve smoother, natural-looking brows.
Short Scar Temporal Brow Lift | Classic (Open) Brow Lift | Endoscopic Brow Lift |

During an open brow lift, a singular incision is made across the length of the head to carefully lift the brows. Either a coronal incision or mid-scalp incision will be used, depending on the patient. A coronal incision is made behind the hairline and across the forehead, while a mid-scalp incision is made to follow the skull’s natural pattern (this type of incision may be recommended for patients who are experiencing balding or thinning hair). Your plastic surgeon will lift and reposition forehead tissue, as well as the underlying muscles, to address wrinkles and furrows. Moreover, excess skin can be trimmed for a firmer-looking profile.
When performing an endoscopic brow lift, your plastic surgeon will place a series of small incisions around the hairline. A small endoscope, or camera, is then inserted into the incision to clearly monitor the procedure. Loose skin around the forehead is carefully lifted and trimmed, if necessary, while underlying tissue and muscle are repositioned. The endoscopic forehead lift technique requires minimal incisions, as opposed to the classic brow lift method.
During your initial brow lift consultation, Dr. Asaadi will discuss your procedure goals and evaluate your individual facial profile. He will explain the different surgical techniques available and which method may be right for you. Your medical history will also be evaluated when determining the best course of treatment. You may be an ideal candidate for a forehead lift if you are suffering from forehead lines, creases, or furrows, as well as sagging skin around the brows.
You will be provided with specific pre-surgery instructions before undergoing your brow lift procedure. Certain medications or supplements, as well as specific foods or beverages, may need to be avoided prior to your surgery. Forehead lift patients are encouraged to make appropriate aftercare plans for the first few days of recovery. Dr. Asaadi also recommends to have a friend or relative escort you to and from your surgery. More pre-procedure suggestions will be discussed during your consultation.
You may experience slight discomfort, numbness, swelling, or bruising after undergoing your forehead lift. Most of these side effects should begin to dissipate in the coming weeks, while slight numbness may persist for a few months post-surgery. Dr. Asaadi will prescribe appropriate pain medication to alleviate side effects and assist in your recovery. Patients who have underwent a brow lift may have bandages placed to aid in healing; these dressings will be removed within 1-2 days of your surgery. Stitches are usually removed within 1-2 weeks of your procedure. Healing will ultimately vary by patient and Dr. Asaadi can discuss the specifics of your recovery in more detail.
Forehead lift patients should avoid rigorous activities, exercise, housework, or bending over for the first few weeks of recovery. You can begin gently washing your hair within a few days. Most patients are able to return to work and most daily activities in 1-2 weeks. Dr. Asaadi and our staff are available to assist with any post-care questions you may have.
Brow lift surgery can yield natural-looking results and address sagging around the forehead. Many patients report that they look younger and more rested after undergoing a forehead lift. Brow lift surgery can achieve long-lasting improvements. All incisions are carefully placed to ensure that scarring remains virtually unnoticeable after your procedure.
It is important that you choose a skilled brow lift surgeon who understands your individual anatomy, as every patient’s facial structure is different. When the right plastic surgeon performs forehead lift surgery, there is usually no need for a revision. Dr. Asaadi stresses the importance of choosing a qualified, experienced, and board-certified plastic surgeon when considering a brow lift.
