Approximately 50 percent of men are diagnosed with gynecomastia, also known as male breasts, leading to enlarged glandular tissue in the breast area. Dr. Asaadi offers gynecomastia treatment or male breast reduction to help correct this condition.
What Is Gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia is the enlargement of the male breast tissue. It is common in both men and boys and can appear at any stage of development. Every human has both male and female hormones; as a result, gynecomastia can occur when the male hormones (androgens) are comparatively low to the female hormones (estrogens).
Other potential reasons may include obesity, genetics, and side effects of medications or medical conditions. The change of medications or lifestyle choices can help improve gynecomastia; however, if improvements are not effective, male breast reduction surgery might be the right option for you.
The enlargement of the mammary glands usually occurs on both sides of the chest, but it can also develop on one side or be greater than the other side.
Pain or discomfort is not often accompanied with gynecomastia and it is a benign medical condition.
How Male Breast Reduction Surgery Works
Gynecomastia surgery can remove excess glandular tissue and fat in the breasts, or in cases of extreme weight loss, excess skin as well. In combination with direct excision, liposuction will be used to help flatten and firm the chest area. Post-procedure, you can expect a more masculine-looking chest.
