Eyelid Surgery – Fixing Bags Under Eyes

POSTED ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2019 AT 10:10 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

As we age, our skin begins to lose elasticity, resulting in sagging on the arms, legs, face, and neck. All of these changes, but especially those in our face, can make us feel self-conscious about our appearance, and impact how others perceive us. Transformations in one of our most emotive features, our eyes, are especially capable of making us look older or tired.

As one of the most important features for communication and connection, it is essential we feel confident in the appearance of our eyes. For drooping, puffy, and tired eyes, eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, can rejuvenate the eyes for a youthful-looking appearance.

What Is Eyelid Surgery?

Eyelid surgery is designed to tighten the skin around the eyes and remove malar mounds, or bags around the lower eyelid. Sagging skin of the upper and lower eyelids is tightened by separating fatty tissue and muscle, and trimming away any excess skin.

The sensitive skin of the lower eyelids requires additional precision in the reshaping and repositioning of the skin to remove a puffy or hollow appearance. Alongside eyelid surgery, festoons, or puffy bags under the eye, may be surgically removed to provide a more complete revitalization of the eyes.

Festoons are typically caused by excess fat deposits or muscle laxity, and after determining the cause of your malar bags, Dr. Asaadi can directly address the source by removing fat deposits underneath the eye, or by releasing the ligaments of the surrounding eye muscles.

How Are Under Eye Bags Diagnosed?

Malar bags or festoons typically have one of two causes: excess fat deposits or muscle laxity. In order to diagnose the cause of malar bags, Dr. Asaadi pioneered the “Botox ® Test ”, during which a small amount of Botox® is injected into the orbicularis oculi (the muscle surrounding the eye), and the response to the injection is measured. A worsening of festoons indicates the likely cause is muscle laxity, while no change in the appearance of malar bags indicates that the presence of excess fat is the probable source.

The drooping skin and excess fat treated during eyelid surgery can provide a long-lasting enhancement in the appearance of the eyelids, and help achieve a natural, more youthful appearance. Incisions are also placed in the natural creases of the eyelids to ensure any post-procedure scarring remains concealed.

Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have about eyelid surgery or malar bag treatment, as well as our other facial rejuvenation procedures. Contact our New Jersey office at 973.731.7000, our New York office at 212.938.0158, or you may request an appointment online today!

What Causes Bags Under Eyes? Diagnosing Festoons & Malar Bags

POSTED ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 07, 2021 AT 8:49 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Festoons, or malar bags, are genetic conditions that create puffy bags under the eyes and above the cheeks. This puffiness may appear similar to dark circles under the eyes and can result in an older, tired-looking appearance. Although malar bags are fairly common, their cause is often misdiagnosed, resulting in improper treatment and dissatisfactory results. New Jersey plastic surgeon, Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi has developed a unique method to determine the cause of festoons and ensure the development of a proper treatment plan to rejuvenate the eyelids.

Malar Bag & Festoon Diagnosis

Malar bags or festoons typically have one of two causes: excess fat deposits or muscle laxity. In order to diagnose the cause of malar bags, Dr. Asaadi pioneered the “Botox ® Test ”, during which a small amount of Botox® is injected into the orbicularis oculi (the muscle surrounding the eye), and the response to the injection is measured.

A worsening of festoons indicates the likely cause is muscle laxity, while no change in the appearance of malar bags indicates that the presence of excess fat is the probable source.

Malar Bag & Festoon Treatment

After determining the source of your malar bags, Dr. Asaadi can then address the cause by either surgically removing fat deposits underneath the eye, or by releasing the ligaments of the surrounding eye muscles. In some cases of muscle laxity, a portion of the eye muscle may be removed, and if necessary, the remaining muscle may be attached to a stable area below the eyelid. The treatment of festoons can result in a long-lasting, youthful, and refreshed appearance.

Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have about malar bag or festoon treatment, as well as our other facial rejuvenation procedures. Contact our New Jersey office at 973.731.7000, our New York office at 212.938.0158, or you may request an appointment online today!

Breast Implant Removal NJ – Removing Your Breast Implants

POSTED ON MONDAY, JULY 22, 2019 AT 5:41 PM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Although breast augmentation surgery leaves many patients enthusiastic about their new body, this initial enthusiasm may shift over time as patients’ perception of their body image changes. For those who have received breast augmentation surgery and are experiencing dissatisfaction, pain, or complications as a result of implants, Dr. Asaadi offers breast implant removal and replacement.

What is Breast Implant Removal Surgery?

Breast implants may be removed for various reasons. In certain cases, a silicone implant can break, causing silicone to leak. When scar tissue hardens and contracts around the implant, this is known as capsular contracture. Although a common complication of breast augmentation,

Dr. Asaadi believes capsular contracture can be avoided and is solely a symptom of poor surgical techniques. Having performed breast augmentations with a 100% success rate of no capsular contracture or implant leakage, Dr. Asaadi swears by the method of using saline implants and utilizing the inframammary incision to accomplish successful breast augmentation surgeries at his NJ practice.

Although a ruptured implant can be painful, it may also go unnoticed, in a phenomenon known as “silent ruptures”. To avoid “silent ruptures” and the development of capsular contracture, Dr. Asaadi only uses saline breast implants.

Saline-filled implants are made out of a sterile saltwater solution, in which a silicone shell is inserted into the breast and then filled to its desired volume with saline-fluid. Having the consistency of water, saline implants provide a more natural, safe, and symmetrical result. For this reason, some patients also opt to remove their silicone implants and replace their breast implants with saline implants.

Who Can Get Breast Implant Removal Surgery?

Breast implant removal surgery is commonly performed if the patient is no longer satisfied with their implants or wishes to exchange them. It is natural for tastes to change over time, and life events such as pregnancy can alter the appearance of the original implants. Although breast implants do not expire, patients often remove or exchange their implants every 10 to 20 years due to complications such as a ruptures or hardening of scars, transformations in their physical body leading to discomfort, or changes in personal preferences. Breast implant removal surgery is recommended if the patient is experiencing capsular contracture, pain caused by the implants, or if breast imaging has shown a leak in the implant.

What Will My Breasts Look Like After Breast Implant Removal Surgery?

Results from breast implant removal are highly individualized, dependent upon age, overall health, and implant size, but patients can expect natural-looking results. Patients with very large implants may require further surgery to address excess skin.

Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have about breast implant removal surgery, as well as other breast enhancement procedures. Contact our New Jersey office at 973.731.7000, our New York office at 212.938.0158, or you may request an appointment online today!

Minimally Invasive Plastic Surgery For A Perfect Beach Body

POSTED ON THURSDAY, MAY 23, 2019 AT 9:32 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Get ready for summer with VASER® LipoSelection and MAsterTuck℠ at Asaadi Plastic Surgery. VASER® LipoSelection and MAsterTuck℠ are minimally invasive body contouring treatments aimed at providing you with a more sculpted physique.

What Is VASER® LipoSelection?

Sometimes exercise and diet are not always enough to eliminate stubborn fat pockets around the abdomen, thighs, hips, legs, neck, or arms. VASER® LipoSelection is an innovative liposuction procedure that can extract unwanted fat from troublesome and delicate areas of the body.

VASER® LipoSelection exposes fat cells to ultrasound energy that gradually dissolves the unwanted fat, which is gently suctioned with a probe or cannula. VASER® LipoSelection requires less downtime compared to traditional liposuction treatments and can offer long-term results.

What Is MAsterTuck℠?

Eliminate localized fatty deposits around the midsection, flanks, and back with MAsterTuck℠! Dr. Asaadi pioneered MAsterTuck℠ to help patients attain a well-contoured physique, while also promoting skin tightening with the help of VASER® energy.

Compared to traditional liposuction, MAsterTuck℠ delivers significant skin retraction without the need for excision of the skin. Just like VASER® LipoSelection, MAsterTuck℠ uses a probe or cannula to emit ultrasound energy to liquefy surrounding fat cells.

Afterward, the liquefied fat is carefully removed from the body, leaving fibrous tissues intact. MAsterTuck℠ is a unique liposuction procedure that can achieve long-lasting results in truncal parts of the body!

Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have about VASER® LipoSelection and MAsterTuck℠. Contact our New Jersey office at 973.731.7000, our New York office at 212.938.0158, or you may request an appointment online today!
