With a new year comes new changes, and for many people their New Year’s resolutions involve goals to attain their desired appearance. So, why not face the new year with a refreshed and rejuvenated look?

At Asaadi Plastic Surgery, we offer numerous facial rejuvenation treatments that contribute to restoring youthful, glowing skin and can provide patients with more confidence as they enter the new year.

One way to bring back radiance to the skin is through laser skin resurfacing. This is a facial rejuvenation procedure and blemish treatment that reduces cosmetic irregularities such as damaged skin, acne, and signs of aging. As you begin to age, wrinkles, folds, age spots, and fine lines will start to appear. Repairing your skin and reducing the signs of aging is possible with laser skin resurfacing.

Laser skin resurfacing uses laser beam technology to precisely target problem areas. The laser is scientifically designed to repair damaged skin while preserving as much healthy skin and tissue as possible. During the procedure, protective eye goggles are worn to shield the eyes from the laser.

There are several different laser treatments available today that are chosen based on the individual needs and preferred outcome for each patient. Laser skin resurfacing may utilize ablative lasers, non-ablative lasers, fractional lasers, and the Fraxel CO2 Pixel Perfect™ laser, and Intense Pulsed Light Treatment. A combination of these laser types can be used to effectively treat skin concerns. Laser treatments can also be performed at various depths, which is dependent on the skin imperfections being repaired.

  • Ablative Lasers: Removes damaged tissue and skin layers that cause discoloration, blemishes, or irregularities and are often used in cases of skin-firming, wrinkle treatment, and scar reduction.
  • Non-Ablative Lasers: Breaks down cosmetic blemishes on the surface of the skin and is often used for treating fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Fractional Lasers: Reach the deepest layers of the skin to remove damaged cells and promote growth of healthy tissue and is used to treat deep folds, severe wrinkles, scarring, discoloration, and liver spots.
  • Fraxel CO2 Pixel Perfect™ Laser: Treats the deepest layers of skin without harming healthy cells, restarts your body’s natural collagen production, generating new, healthy skin cells. This laser results in a high success rate and quick recovery period.
  • Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatment: Improve the appearance of skin irregularities by enhancing tone and texture of skin, encourage collagen production, and is used to reduce wrinkles, fine lines, sun damage, pigmentation issues, birthmarks, and more without extensive recovery time.

Laser skin resurfacing is performed for moderate-to-severe cosmetic blemishes and irregularities. Dr. Asaadi will help to achieve facial rejuvenation results by determining which laser would be best. The recovery from laser skin resurfacing is dependent on which laser was used and at what depth. Common side effects from this procedure include minor itching, irritation, and discomfort which fade in the days following the treatment. The skin may be red and sensitive for the first few weeks, and sun exposure should be avoided.
