Diagnosing malar bags and festoons can be extremely difficult. These conditions, also known as severe under-eye bags, are persistent and problematic; they can prevent you from feeling confident in your appearance and expressing your true emotions. Luckily, Dr. Asaadi has developed a system for testing the source of these troublesome facial issues using Botox injections!
The Botox Test
Dr. Asaadi's Botox Test is designed to diagnose the causes of malar bags and festoons. Since these conditions can have multiple causes, it is crucial to know what’s creating them in order to formulate a proper treatment plan. By injecting Botox into the muscle around the eyes (known as the orbicularis oculi), Dr. Asaadi can indicate whether your condition is being caused by excess fat or by a loss of tightness and tone in the muscle. If your festoons or malar bags worsen after the injection, this indicates that aging in the muscle has led to laxity around the eyes and upper cheeks. However, if the Botox injection doesn’t alter the appearance of your malar bags or festoons, then your condition is being caused by localized fat. Upon diagnosing the cause of your issue, Dr. Asaadi can then formulate a treatment plan.
Festoons and malar bags can be extremely troublesome issues. They can strip you of your confidence and make you self-conscious about your appearance. Dr. Asaadi is dedicated to finding innovative methods to fit your individual needs. What works for one patient may not be the solution for another. Dr. Asaadi strives to make every patient feel comfortable in his or her own skin. The Botox Test is another step in ensuring you receive the proper treatment for your condition.

Here at Asaadi Plastic Surgery, we aim to find new and innovative ways to help you look younger and feel more confident in your appearance. Dr. Asaadi is a pioneer in the field of plastic surgery and is constantly improving upon surgical techniques to produce better, more natural-looking results. His unique procedure—the wedge excision for the lower lip—is a unique method of plastic surgery. The excision is meant to correct the loss of tone to help those suffering from an ectropion of the lower lip.
Patients who have display an ectropion of the lower lip often have difficulty speaking, eating, smiling and feeling normal. The wedge excision can address these physical and emotional issues, thus improving your overall confidence in yourself, as well as your quality of life.
When an ectropion of the lip occurs, the inside of the bottom lip points outward, instead of inward. In order to correct this ectropion, Dr. Asaadi will create a wedge excision in the middle of the lower lip; this will turn the lip back inward to its proper position on the face.
The wedge excision is done under local anesthesia and the recovery time is minimal—lasting only a few days. The scar will fade over time and is hardly visible after three weeks, so you will enjoy a shapely lip without extensive downtime or noticeable scarring.
Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have about your condition, and we can help determine if the wedge excision procedure for the lower lip can address your facial deformity. We also offer many other facial rejuvenation procedures. Contact our New Jersey office at 973.731.7000, or you may request an appointment online today!

As we approach the middle of winter, the warm summer seems so far away. Before you know it, however, it’ll be time to hit the beach and show off your physique. Why not begin your quest for that summer body ahead of time? Many patients take advantage of the winter season, as you’ll need multiple layers of clothes to ward off the cold weather and these layers can help hide healing during recovery.
One way to get your body ready for summer is MAsterTuck. MAstertuck is a patented body sculpting procedure performed exclusively by Dr. Asaadi using the VASER® Lipo System. MAstertuck tackles excess fat deposits in stubborn areas. While other bodysculpting procedures rely on invasive incisions to remove excess skin, MAstertuck allows for significant skin retraction without the cuts—leaving the area with a smooth shape and scar-free surface.
How Do I Know if MAsterTuckSM is Right for Me?
MAstertuck should not be seen as a method to remove large areas of fat. Instead, the ideal candidate will have localized fatty areas that have persisted despite maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Such areas may include the abdominals, back, and flanks. MAstertuck is usually performed in under four hours and requires no excision of excess skin! This procedure has a very high patient satisfaction rate.
Dr. Asaadi and our staff at Asaadi Plastic Surgery welcome any questions you may have about our MAsterTuck procedure. Contact our New Jersey office at 973.731.7000, or you may request an appointment online today!

What are the risks of plastic surgery? Is it right for me? Are there less-invasive options? These are all commonly asked questions by patients looking to enhance their look before undergoing plastic surgery. While some patients believe plastic surgery is too invasive and fear “going under the knife”, there are many options that can cosmetically enhance your appearance with less downtime and less risks, yet still achieve beautiful results.
The goal of plastic surgery is always to look and feel natural. Today, plastic surgeons have taken advantage of the advancements of dermal fillers to create non-surgical results that can transform your look as stunningly as traditional plastic surgery. One method that has helped surgeons achieve these results is through fat grafting.
Fat grafting is a less invasive option to traditional surgery but more permanent than cosmetic injectables. Depending on your targeted treatment area, you may smooth wrinkles, eliminate under eye bags, and add volume to breasts or buttocks.
How does fat grafting work?
During fat grafting, your plastic surgeon will extract your body’s very own, natural fat. Fat grafts are commonly taken from the love handles, flanks, stomach, or thighs using gentle liposuction to preserve the fat cells. There are many pros and cons to fat grafting, and your plastic surgeon should work with you to determine if fat grafting is a preferable treatment for you versus traditional cosmetic injectables and dermal fillers.
Considerations:

Cons
|
Because fat transfer uses your body’s natural fat, it reduces the chance of allergic reaction.
|
May require multiple sessions to achieve your desired look.
|
Long lasting, natural and safe.
|
Fat cells do not always survive.
|
Non-invasive.
|
Fat transfer to the breasts may interfere with mammogram testing-requiring further testing.

What can fat grafting be used for?
Wrinkle Treatment: Fat grafting can smooth wrinkles by filling in deep to moderate creases. Fat grafting may also fill sunken or hollow areas for a younger, more natural-looking appearance.
Natural Breast Enhancement: When undergoing breast enhancement, patients have many different implant options to choose from. In some cases, you may choose to opt for natural breast enhancement which uses your own natural fat. Natural breast augmentation can correct breast asymmetry, add additional contouring, and also increase breast size. Learn more about fat grafting for breast augmentation.
Butt Augmentation: Fat transfer to the buttocks is a great way to produce natural-looking curves, correct symmetry and increase size.
Dr. Asaadi stresses that patients should seek a plastic surgeon who is experienced in advance liposuction methods for fat removal. Your plastic surgeon should be sophisticated in fat grafting techniques to help ensure maximum fat survival. While fat grafting is less invasive and reduces the risk of allergic reactions, some patients may be better suited for traditional cosmetic fillers.
