How Does SKINVIVE™ Work?
SKINVIVE™ is injected just below the surface of the skin, targeting specific areas of facial tissue. SKINVIVE™ is a minimally-invasive procedure due to the treatment being administered below, but very close to the skin’s surface. This technique allows for SKINVIVE™ to target larger treatment areas. Following the injection, water can easily flow between the skin cells, encouraging increased hydration and smoothing effects. During your SKINVIVE™ treatment, patients can expect little-to-no pain as numbing with a topical anesthetic is administered prior to your SKINVIVE™ injection. Following your SKINVIVE™ injection, redness, bruising, and swelling may occur around the injection site.

Botox is a wrinkle treatment used to help reduce the signs of aging. With age, collagen production in your body decreases, leading to a loss of elasticity. Loss of collagen and elasticity are the reasons for fine lines and wrinkles and causes the skin to sag and become less firm. Repeated facial expressions such as smiling, frowning, and squinting and environmental factors such as excess sun exposure can all lead to facial wrinkles as well.
There are large amounts of information being spread and discussed regarding Botox ever since it saw a rise in popularity in the late 1990s. As it became popular, and still is today, so has the idea that there are many negative side effects, issues, and overall misconceptions about the treatment. Myths spread about Botox treatment can be misleading and misrepresent the various benefits that Botox injections offer.
At Asaadi Plastic Surgery, we have debunked some of the most common myths circulating about Botox. This alllows our patients to feel reassured that they are making the right decisions based on facts, not fiction.
#1 Botox is toxic
-
Botox has been FDA approved since 2002 and has been approved for a variety of different medical and cosmetic reasons over the span of 20 years. It has an established safety history and is extremely regulated and controlled. This myth stems from the knowledge that Botox is derived from botulinum toxin, which is extracted from the bacteria that causes botulism. Botox is not the same as botulism, and you cannot contract the illness from the use of Botox.
#2 Botox will give me a “frozen” or expressionless look
-
The “frozen” expression that is often described is typically due to an overdosage when being injected. When done properly, Botox only affects the muscles at the location of injection, and it is not capable of spreading to other parts of the body. It is important to only have Botox administered by someone qualified, and experienced to get the desired effect, with natural-looking results and display a full range of normal facial expressions and emotions.
#3 Botox injections are painful
-
Most patients describe a very mild pain, similar to a slight pinch, when getting their Botox treatment. The needles used for the procedure are very fine, and topical anesthetic creams specifically designed for Botox can be applied.
#4 Wrinkles will worsen if you stop getting Botox
-
The wrinkles targeted during the Botox procedure will not worsen if a patient does not continue to get treatment. Botox does not have permanent effects, and results typically only lasts between 6 months to a year. So, over time as facial expressions, emotions, and use of facial muscles continue, the wrinkles will slowly begin to appear again to their initial state, but not worsen.
#5 Botox is addictive
-
There are no addictive properties found in Botox. This myth largely stems from the fact that once patients complete a treatment, they are happy with their results and since it is not a permanent fix, they choose to continue to get Botox injections to maintain their appearance.
#6 Botox results are immediate
-
This procedure does not provide immediate results. Gradually and subtly the results will start to show within the first 3 to 5 days. Then, the final results will appear between 7 to 10 days following the procedure.

There are many different factors that contribute to the lack of youthfulness, volume, and freshness of the skin over time. A loss of collagen production can increase fine lines, wrinkles, dullness, a loss of skin elasticity, and more.
At Asaadi Plastic Surgery, we offer various facial rejuvenation procedures to help patients achieve a glowing complexion, and completely refresh the skin. These procedures can enhance the appearance of the skin by restoring vibrancy and fullness, leaving patients with a rejuvenated complexion.
Which Facial Rejuvenation Procedures Are Recommended For Refreshing The Skin?
There are a variety of facial rejuvenation procedures and treatments to choose from dependent on the desired goals and specific target areas of each patient.
Dr. Asaadi and his team can help determine which treatment is best for you. There are quick and easy, non-invasive to minimally invasive solutions such as HydraFacial®, Lumecca®, and cosmetic fillers.
HydraFacial®
HydraFacial® is a specialized facial treatment that restores the skin’s health and provides patients with a youthful complexion. This facial combines cleansing, extracting, and hydration resulting in clearer skin. It is a non-invasive four step process that improves fine lines, wrinkles, vibrancy, congested skin, enlarged pores, and more.
Lumecca®
Lumecca® is a skin rejuvenation treatment that uses advanced Intense Pulsed Light Therapy to directly target and reduce skin imperfections. Sunspots, spider veins, rosacea, and other skin irregularities are reduced, and the overall appearance of the skin is improved. This is a minimally invasive procedure that requires little-to-no downtime. Lumecca® provides patients with a refreshed, younger-looking appearance.
Cosmetic Fillers
Cosmetic fillers are used to help reduce facial wrinkles, creases and lines, and add volume to the face. Genetics, sun exposure, aging, and lifestyle choices can all contribute to loss of collagen reducing facial volume and leading to wrinkles and sagging skin. Cosmetic fillers can improve the appearance of lax, loose facial skin, add volume, and fill in the lines and wrinkles for a younger-looking appearance. There are many different types of fillers that are available to target different problem areas.
Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have regarding facial rejuvenation procedures, as well as other plastic surgery procedures. Contact our New Jersey office at 973.731.7000, our New York office at 212.938.0158, or you may request an appointment online today!

Cosmetic injectables not only reverse the signs of aging, but they can also prevent some of the most noticeable signs of aging from showing in the first place.
As a result of taking preventative action against aging, patients will experience fewer wrinkles and an overall smoother complexion as years pass.
It’s a common misconception that cosmetic injectables are highly noticeable, making those who have them appear “worked on” or “plastic.”
When performed properly by an experienced injector, these procedures will yield natural and youthful-looking results.
What are the Benefits of Preventative Injectables?
-
Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
-
Lessens movements that causes wrinkles
-
Combats genetic aging
-
Provides more subtle anti-aging results
-
Minimally invasive
-
Little-to-no downtime
How Can Botox Prevent Aging?
As fine lines and wrinkles can start to appear from repeated facial movements, starting injectables earlier can help to slow down the use of these muscles. But when do patients know when is the right time to start seeking cosmetic injections? Experts agree that when patients begin to see the first signs of facial folds or wrinkles it is reasonable to start considering injectables to prevent further aging. Our NJ plastic surgeon can meet with you to determine what is best for you and if you are an ideal candidate for preventative cosmetic injectables.
What to Expect Before Preventative Injectables
Before receiving any preventative injectables, Dr. Asaadi will meet with you for a consultation. During this process, he will evaluate any signs of aging you present and create a customized treatment plan to effectively address them and take steps towards preventing more from appearing.
What to Expect After Preventative Injectables
Depending on the type of injectable administered, patients will see results in the days following their procedure. Cosmetic injectables are minimally-invasive and require little-to-no downtime. Therefore, patients are able to return to their daily activities almost immediately following their visit.
What Signs of Aging Can Cosmetic Injectables Prevent?
-
Fine Lines
-
Forehead Wrinkles
-
Marionette Lines
-
Hollowed Cheeks
-
Crow’s Feet
-
Furrowed Brows
When Should I Start Preventative Injectables?
An ideal age to start preventative injectables doesn’t exist, because everyone ages differently depending on various factors such as genetics, skin type, sun exposure, etc. However, once faint lines begin to appear, it may be the right time to start preventative injectables. These faint lines are likely to later develop into deep wrinkles and preventative injectables are helpful in slowing this process. The age of patients seeking preventative injectables ranges from mid-to-late 20s to 30s.
What Options are Available for Preventative Injectables?
At Asaadi Plastic Surgery we offer a wide variety of cosmetic injectables to prevent the signs of aging. Dr. Asaadi will help determine which treatment is best for you based on your desired results and problem areas. Treatment options include Botox®, Juvaderm®, Perlane®, Belotero®, Voluma®, and Volbella®.

The signs of facial aging are often the most noticeable, causing many patients to seek facial rejuvenation procedures in NJ. While many patients are great candidates for facelift surgery, non-invasive procedures can offer solutions to facial aging without having to go under the scalpel or take extended downtime.
These procedures provide long-lasting, natural-looking results and are ideal for patients looking to combat the signs of facial aging.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser skin resurfacing is effective in treating blemishes, damaged skin, and other signs of aging. Using precise laser technology, laser skin resurfacing can be tailored to fit the individual goals of each patient.
There are various laser options available to treat different facial concerns. Dr. Asaadi is able to help patients decide which option is best for achieving their desired results. Laser skin resurfacing can be combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are used to treat imperfections of the skin, often caused by aging, genetics, or excessive sun exposure. Through different levels of exfoliation, chemical peels can correct a wide variety of skin irregularities on the face.
There are three levels of chemical peels; light chemical peels, medium chemical peels, and deep chemical peels. Each peel targets a different layer of the skin and provides different results. Dr. Asaadi will help you decide which level of chemical peel is necessary to achieve your desired rejuvenation results.
Botox®
Botox® is a cosmetic injectable that reduces the signs of facial aging. Botox® is effective in treating wrinkles that form around the mouth, eyes, and forehead due to repeated facial muscle contractions.
Botox® works by temporarily limiting the facial expressions that lead to fine lines and wrinkles. This procedure takes approximately 10-20 minutes to perform and can easily be tailored to fit the desired results of each patient.
Ultherapy®
Ultherapy® is a non-invasive skin-tightening treatment that is used to lift and tone facial tissue that has lost elasticity or begun to sag. Using ultrasound technology, Ultherapy® uses direct sound waves to stimulate the production of elastin and collagen.
Because of its minimally-invasive nature, Ultherapy® patients can return to their regular activities almost immediately after undergoing the procedure. Visible improvements can be noticed following your first treatment, but the results will continue to develop in the months to follow.
