NJ Breast Explant Surgery To Remove Breast Implants

POSTED ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2021 AT 9:00 AM  by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Breast augmentation is a popular breast enhancement surgery that uses implants to add volume to the breasts. While breast augmentation is a safe and effective treatment, some patients may one day choose to remove or replace their breast implants.

Breast explant surgery is designed to remove breast implants for cosmetic or medical concerns. Patients sometimes choose to combine breast explant surgery with breast augmentation to remove past implants and replace them with new implants. Replacing previous implants following breast explant surgery can maintain the size and shape of the breasts.

Breast lift surgery may also be combined with breast explant surgery to ensure the breasts are youthful-looking following the removal of breast implants.

Breast Implant Cosmetic Concerns

Patients often choose to undergo breast explant surgery when they are concerned about the cosmetic appearance of their breast implants. Some patients may feel they would like a larger or smaller size implant to better complement changes to their physique over time.

While the implants may not be causing any harm, some patients prefer to replace their current breast implants with new implants or remove the breast implants altogether.

Breast Implants Are Too Large: If a patient has lost significant weight or no longer desires the size implants that they have, breast explant surgery can remove implants that no longer complement a patient’s figure. If the patient desires, Dr. Asaadi can replace these implants with smaller breast implants.

Breast Implants Are Too Small: Some patients wish to increase overall breast size. In these cases, breast explant surgery can be performed to remove breast implants and combined with revision breast augmentation to insert larger implants.

Breast Implants Appear Unnatural-Looking: If a patient has undergone breast augmentation with a less skilled plastic surgeon, Dr. Asaadi can remove breast implants and replace them. Revision breast augmentation can also be performed if the patient desires.

No Longer Desire Breast Implants: Sometimes, a patient may simply no longer desire breast implants. Breast explant surgery can be performed to remove breast implants. In many cases, a breast lift is performed to ensure the breasts appear youthful following the removal of breast implants.

Breast Implant Medical Concerns

While breast augmentation is a very safe cosmetic procedure, there are certain medical concerns that may arise from having breast implants. Through Dr. Asaadi’s years in practice, he has accomplished a 100% success rate of breast implant surgery without medical concerns such as capsular contracture or implant leakage.

Breast Implant Infection: Breast explant can remove implants that have caused a bacterial infection in the tissue around the implants.

Capsular Contracture: Capsular contracture causes the tissues in the breasts to tighten and become too firm, which can lead to the breasts being painful or unnatural-looking. Breast explant surgery is required to remove these implants and treat the underlying medical condition.

Breast Implant Rupture: A breast implant may rupture or leak following an accident or physical trauma. A leaking or damaged breast implant must be removed to ensure proper breast health.
