Treatments For Festoons & Malar Bags!

POSTED ON TUESDAY, JULY 10, 2018 AT 2:14 PM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Festoons and malar bags are genetic conditions that are often misdiagnosed and, as a result, not treated properly. These conditions present themselves as puffy bags and dark circles under the eyes. At Asaadi Plastic Surgery, our New Jersey plastic surgeon has over 30 years of experience treating complex conditions like festoons and achieving natural-looking results. Dr. Asaadi has developed unique methods of diagnosing and treating the root causes of festoons and malar bags to restore youthful-looking eyelids.

Diagnosing Festoons & Malar Bags

Dr. Asaadi has developed the “Botox® Test” to properly identify the causes of your malar bags or festoons. During this test, a small amount of Botox® is injected into the area around your eye, known as the orbicularis oculi. If your festoons get worse after the injection, then the likely cause is muscle laxity. If there is no change in your festoons after the Botox® injection, then the likely cause is excess fat.

Treating Festoons & Malar Bags

Following the Botox® Test, Dr. Asaadi can properly treat the underlying causes of your festoons or malar bags. For festoons that are caused by muscle laxity, Dr. Asaadi can release the ligaments of the surrounding eye muscles and can remove part of the muscles, if necessary. For festoons caused by excess fat, Dr. Asaadi can surgically remove fat pockets beneath the skin.

While many plastic surgery practices simply try to treat festoons or malar bags using traditional blepharoplasty techniques, Dr. Asaadi addresses the root causes in order to correct these genetic conditions and achieve substantial results.

Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have about malar bags and festoons, as well as our other facial rejuvenation procedures. Contact our New Jersey office at 973.731.7000, our New York office at 212.938.0158, or you may request an appointment online today!

5 Reasons To Consider Microneedling With PRP!

POSTED ON TUESDAY, JUNE 05, 2018 AT 10:11 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

with PRP (platelet rich plasma therapy) can improve skin tone and restore a radiant complexion without the need for surgery or extensive healing time. These two treatments work together to enhance skin texture and reduce the prominence of wrinkles, acne scars, sun damage, and more. During microneedling, tiny holes are made in the skin to encourage your body’s natural healing mechanisms. Your platelet rich plasma is extracted from a blood sample and injected into the target area to further stimulate your skin’s ability to heal itself. By combining microneedling with platelet rich plasma therapy, patients can achieve smoother, glowing skin texture. Here’s 5 reasons to consider microneedling and PRP.

1.) Microneedling & PRP Can Treat Multiple Skin Irregularities

Microneedling and platelet rich plasma treatment can improve the appearance of many cosmetic concerns. Patients can target wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, blemishes, and sun damage. Common treatment areas include the face, neck, and arms.

2.) Microneedling & PRP Work Together

Microneedling and PRP work synergistically to achieve optimal results. The tiny holes made from microneedling treatment help your body better absorb PRP injections, while PRP injections enhance your skin’s ability to heal and stimulate collagen following microneedling.

3.) Microneedling & PRP Are Non-Surgical & Can Be Completed Quickly

There is no invasive surgery when undergoing microneedling or PRP. General anesthesia is not necessary and treatments can be completed rather quickly.

4.) Microneedling & PRP Require Minimal Downtime

Microneedling and PRP do not require extensive recovery time following treatment. You may experience some swelling, bruising, peeling, or redness for a couple of days. Patients can typically resume their daily activities within a few days of undergoing treatment.

5.) Microneedling & PRP Can Achieve Long-Lasting Results

Microneedling and PRP are designed to achieve natural-looking, long-lasting enhancements to skin texture and complexion. You can expect to see results in the weeks following your microneedling and platelet rich plasma treatment.

Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have about microneedling with PRP, as well as our other non-invasive procedures. Contact our New Jersey office at 973.731.7000, our New York office at 212.938.0158, or you may request an appointment online today!

Upper & Lower Blepharoplasty To Restore Youthful Eyelids!

POSTED ON FRIDAY, MAY 04, 2018 AT 1:39 PM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

The eyes are one of the first facial areas to experience the signs of aging. Drooping eyelids, puffy under-eye bags, and festoons can each contribute to an older-looking, tired appearance. Upper and lower blepharoplasty can achieve youthful-looking eyelids by surgically correcting hollowness and puffiness of the eyes. Learn more about your eyelid surgery options below.

Upper Blepharoplasty

Upper blepharoplasty can treat sagging skin above the eyelids. During upper eyelid surgery, loose skin is repositioned or removed. The underlying musculature can also be tightened to improve firmness.

Lower Blepharoplasty

During lower blepharoplasty, under-eye bags can be surgically corrected. Puffiness or bulging can be reduced by selectively tightening each layer of the lower eyelids. Loose skin and underlying muscles are repositioned and tiny amounts of excess fat can also be removed.

Festoon Treatment

Festoons and malar bags can contribute to eyelid puffiness and dark circles. These genetic conditions may be caused be either excess fat or muscle laxity. In order to properly diagnose the cause of your festoons or malar bags, Dr. Asaadi can perform a “Botox® Test.” During this test, Botox® is injected into the areas around your eyes. If your festoons get worse following the injection, then they are most likely caused by muscle laxity. However, if there is no change in your malar bags after your Botox® injection, then your festoons are likely caused by excess fat.

Once Dr. Asaadi properly diagnoses your festoons or malar bags, he can surgically correct them by removing fat deposits or releasing the ligaments of your surrounding eye muscles.

Rhinoplasty Options!

POSTED ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 04, 2018 AT 10:25 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Rhinoplasty (also known as nose surgery) can achieve nose symmetry and enhance shape. Rhinoplasty can improve the nose tip, bridge, or nostrils to enhance your overall facial profile. Additionally, nose surgery can alleviate breathing issues caused by a deviated septum. For patients who want to reshape the nose without undergoing surgery, non-surgical rhinoplasty using cosmetic fillers may be an ideal option. Injectables can add natural-looking definition without the need for surgery or extensive downtime. Learn more about your nose surgery options!

Surgical Rhinoplasty

During nose surgery, your plastic surgeon will reshape and re-sculpt cartilage to accentuate nose shape. There are two different rhinoplasty techniques used during nose surgery: open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty.

During open rhinoplasty, incisions are placed on the inside of your nose, with a tiny incision made at the base of your nostrils. Closed rhinoplasty, however, places all incisions inside of your nose. Rhinoplasty can achieve long-lasting, substantial improvements to your nose shape. Rhinoplasty patients can typically resume their daily activities within weeks.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

When choosing non-surgical rhinoplasty, cosmetic injections are used to correct crookedness, bumps, or asymmetries. Your plastic surgeon will inject the cosmetic filler into the desired area(s) of the nose to improve shape. Non-surgical rhinoplasty can be completed in minutes and there is no downtime or recovery necessary following your cosmetic injectable treatment. Many non-surgical rhinoplasty results last months before touch-up treatments are required to maintain results.

Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have about rhinoplasty or cosmetic fillers, as well as our other facial rejuvenation procedures. Contact our New Jersey office at 973.731.7000, our New York office at 212-938-0158, or you may request an appointment online today!

Neck Rejuvenation Options For A More Youthful Neck & Jawline!

POSTED ON THURSDAY, MARCH 08, 2018 AT 1:53 PM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

The neck is often considered a problem area for many patients. Over time, skin may begin to sag and fat deposits may accumulate, leading to the appearance of a “double chin.” There are plenty of neck rejuvenation options available to restore a firmer, more youthful neck and jawline. At Asaadi Plastic Surgery, we offer Ultherapy®, Kybella®, neck liposuction, and neck lift surgery to improve the appearance of your neck. Learn more about your neck rejuvenation options below.

Ultherapy ® Skin Tightening

Ultherapy® is a non-surgical skin tightening treatment that can improve skin texture while reducing wrinkles and fine lines. Ultherapy® uses ultrasound energy to lift and firm sagging tissues. Ultherapy®  can also encourage the production of collagen fibers, which improves skin elasticity. There is no downtime or recovery needed and Ultherapy® patients can resume daily activities immediately.

Kybella® For Double Chin

Kybella® is a non-invasive injection to reduce the appearance of double chin. Kybella® is made from deoxycholic acid, which helps absorb excess fat in the body. Kybella® is injected into the chin to eliminate unwanted fat cells. Kybella® treatments can be completed in 15 minutes and multiple sessions spread out over weeks are ideal for optimal results. You can return to your daily routine immediately after completing treatment.

Neck Liposuction To Remove Stubborn Fat

Neck liposuction can remove stubborn pockets of unwanted neck fat to enhance neck contours. During neck lipo, a tiny incision is made and a small cannula is inserted beneath the skin to extract unwanted fat cells. Neck liposuction can achieve long-lasting, natural-looking results with minimal downtime and recovery.

Neck Lift Surgery To Firm Sagging Skin

A neck lift can restore a more youthful-looking neck by targeting loose neck skin. During neck lift surgery, the underlying structures of the neck, like Platysma muscles are corrected by tightening & reshaping. Drooping or sagging skin can be lifted and repositioned, while excess skin can be removed. The result is a firmer-looking neck. A neck lift requires a few weeks of downtime, but can yield long-term results.

Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have about Ultherapy®, Kybella®, neck liposuction, or neck lift surgery, as well as our other body contouring procedures.
